Logic X Has A New Update

Logic_X_ChorusLogic Pro X 10.1.2 is here!  And it’s completely free to anyone who has already purchased Logic through the app store!  I don’t need to tell you this but you can get the free update by going to the app store, clicking on updates and then install by clicking Update All, which will automatically update all your apps to their new versions or like I did just click on Logic X’s Update button.

So what does Logic’s latest 10.1.2 update offer?

Amongst a whole host of other updates the new GUI for some of the of the plugins, which to be honest although didn’t bother me were getting a little long in the tooth.  The plugins that have been updated now look sharp, clean and have been designed with retina displays in mind.

The Plugins Have Had A Make Over!

Logic X Bit Crusher

Here’s the list of the new plugins that have been given the full make over!

These plug-ins have been updated with new Retina-ready interfaces:

Mastering

Logic X Adaptive LimiterOn the mastering front the Limiter and Adaptive Limiter have been updated with the new GUI and they look great!  I’m yet to see if Logic have improved on the audio side of things too but that’s something for another day.  If you use the Single Band EQs you’ll find they have been updated too.  The metering plugins have been updated too, which is great with regards to mastering as they now allow you to analyse your mix even further with True Peak detection, LUFS, a 64 band MultiMeter option and much more.  The analyser tools have really come on and I’m looking forward to updating the videos I’ve created on analysing a master from the soon to be released mastering course.

For me the highlights are the newly designed plugins (of course!), the fact that the Level Meter can now be horizontal or vertical is a great new feature, minor but good to have.  The Multimeter now comes with LUFS!  Since most of my work is in LUFS this makes a lot of sense and it was inevitable that Logic X would at some point have to feature this.  I haven’t tried this out yet but being able to axport stems is going to be a god send and save me and probably you a whole heap of time when stems are required!  Alchemy, which I love has some new great feature too from including Apple Loop support to 11 new spectral effects.  The update threading when processing multiple live channels is a nice update too!

Limiter

All in all there’s so many new updates both obvious and not so obvious that it will take a while to get my head round it all.
