Finding the right synth requires a subtle amount of ALCHEMY!
Logic Pro X version 10.2
Logic Pro X have release version 10.2 bringing us the incredible Alchemy synth.
Now part of Logic’s already full featured set of virtual instrument plugins is Alchemy. Some time ago Apple purchased Camel Audio, the original developers of Alchemy, since then the Apple gurus have clearly been working hard along with the original Camel Audio team to bring us, the musos, a virtually all you’ll ever need synth! Considering all you get with Logic X to say it’s good value for money is somewhat of an understatement!
So what’s in v10.2?
Alchemy is a sample manipulation synth that has additive, spectral, granular and virtual analog capabilities. It comes with some 3000 odd sounds and you can import your samples as well as your EXS samples too making the possibilities of audio creation and manipulation virtually endless.
Other key features are endless modulation sources, superb filtering and the quality of the effects section is worth the price of a small plugin bundle from Waves! And they make good plugs!
What were not bothered about!
So it’s likely the first place you’ll go when you download the new version of Logic Pro from the app store is of course the brand new shiny VI…
..but with 10.2 you’ll also get a 1,000 new apple loops,expanded midi clock sync options and the ability to create your own custom track icons from your own image files. Personally I find track icons a pain and for me they take up precious screen space but if you like having them I think you’ll love this feature, the question now is how will you spend your creative time? Making cool track icons or making cool noises with Alchemy!! You decide 🙂
